Patrons Scheme

We are privileged to receive substantial donations from our Sponsors to enable us to make Grant Awards in excess of £250,000 per annum to around 250 young Scottish sportsmen and sportswomen and disability sports stars. However, we incur essential expenditure in the sifting and monitoring of the many hundreds of applications and enquiries we receive, all of which is is a necessary part of the selection process we carry out in association with the individual national governing bodies of the various sports we support.

We have therefore introduced a Patrons Scheme, whereby individuals and businesses can contribute towards the general furtherance of the vital work of SportsAid Scotland, but without necessarily being directly associated with individual awards. However, Gold Patrons will be entitled in addition to sponsor named grants to selected athletes. As we are a charity, all donations by individuals are eligible for Gift Aid tax relief, while business donations are deductible against Corporation Tax.

Membership of the Patrons Scheme is available at various levels, starting from only £10 per month (or £100 p.a.) net for individuals, and from £1,000 per year for corporate patrons.

Our Patrons' names will feature on this website and in other promotional literature, and they will be invited to one or more regional receptions to be held each year, at which they will have the opportunity to meet some of the young sports stars supported by SportsAid Scotland, and also to converse with fellow Patrons.

SportsAid Scotland is most grateful to all our Patrons and sponsors for their generous financial support, which enables us to help so many of Scotland’s young sporting champions of the future.

SportsAid’s patron, Her Royal Highness Princess of Wales is helping to shine a light on the achievements and potential of young athletes throughout the UK – inspiring a generation who one day hope to represent the nation at the Olympic or Paralympic Games. SportsAid alumnus Sir Chris Hoy welcomed the patronage by saying, “SportsAid played an important role when I was starting out so I know what a huge boost this will be to the young sportsmen and women the charity helps today. As patron Her Royal Highness Princess of Wales will give them the profile they deserve.”
